She Is...

This blog is written by three sisters.

Emily is the eldest. She lives in northern Indiana (Go Irish!), having moved there after 18 years in North Carolina (Go Heels!), along with her professor husband and 14 year-old homeschooled youngest daughter. Samwise the corgi dog, and Maybelle Kitty share their home. Her son and oldest daughter are in college, thankfully not too far from home and (in her son’s case) the washer and dryer.  Emily loves to travel (her speciality is climbing up to high places and looking around at the view), scrapbook, and sing, though these days that's mostly in church and in the car.  She and her husband grew up Presbyterian; they spent about 15 years in home churches, 8 years as Episcopalians, and are now most happily in full communion with the Catholic Church.

Laura is the middlest.  She lives in Idaho's Treasure Valley having moved there in 1992 from the Washington, D.C. areaShe and her multi-talented husband are both currently employed by a Boise-area feedlot, making sure everything there runs smoothly and efficiently.  Their youngest son is still at home while the oldest two are in training in the Armed Services.  In her spare time Laura cooks awesome meals for her family, makes the best soap ever, and sings in a cover band on the weekends.  Laura also grew up Presbyterian and has pretty much stayed that way

Natalie is the youngest.  She also lives in the Boise area, having moved there in 2007 from mid-Atlantic states where she was born and raised, along with her account manager/arborist husband and 3 young children, ages 1 - 8. Shadow the wonder dog and 10 chickens share their home and backyard.  Natalie loves to sing, cook, bake, preserve and dehydrate (food), teach piano & voice, and create all manner of lovely things to look at and decorate her family's home.  Natalie and her husband are both lifelong PresbyteriansHer family and Laura's family are members of the same church.

We write about our favorite things.
We share our favorite things to eat.
We make you stare at pictures of our favorite things,
even if they aren't your favorite things.

We do this because we love what we do.
We are wives. We are mothers.
We are daughters (to some pretty amazing parents!).
We are sisters. We are friends.
We are children of God.

Who do we want to be? She.

Who is She?

"An excellent wife who can find?
She is far more precious than jewels.
The heart of her husband trusts in her,
and he will have no lack of gain.
She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life.
She seeks wool and flax and works with willing hands.
She is like the ships of the merchant; she brings her food from afar.
She rises while it is yet night and provides food for her household and portions for her maidens.
She considers a field and buys it; with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard.
She dresses herself with strength and makes her arms strong.
She perceives that her merchandise is profitable. Her lamp does not go out at night.
She puts her hands to the distaff, and her hands hold the spindle.
She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy.
She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household are clothed in scarlet.
She makes bed coverings for herself; her clothing is fine linen and purple.
Her husband is known in the gates when he sits among the elders of the land.
She makes linen garments and sells them; she delivers sashes to the merchant.
Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.
She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:
"Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all."
Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates."
